Influenza - the Vaccine

Influenza vaccination [the "flu jab"] contains inactivated fragments from 3 different strains of virus that causes influenza and is usually given in Sept/Oct of each year.  The 'flu virus is constantly changing its structure [mutating].  This means that each year a different vaccine containing different strains of the virus is required.  The vaccine contains the strains of 'flu that have been identified by the WHO [World Health Organisation] and the EU as being prevalent for the current year.  The selection of which 'flu strains are to make up the vaccine is a best guess from among the last years 3 most prevalent strains.

The vaccine only promotes temporary [2-3 months] immunity to the viral strains used to make it. Many germs can cause influenza like illnesses and the vaccine does not protect against these.  There are over 500 different viruses which can cause 'flu-like symptoms.  The only proven way to get natural and long term immunity to a given strain of the 'flu virus is to recover naturally from the disease itself.

Suppression of 'flu with the vaccine denies the body of an excellent opportunity to rid itself of stored toxins (detox).

Influenza vaccine is recommended for:

  • people over the age of 65 years; and from 23rd July 2005, to be extended to adults aged 50-64 years

  • people living in long stay residential care homes

  • those over 6 months of age with asthma, chronic lung disease, chronic kidney disease, chronic heart disease, diabetes or an underactive immune system [for example, if you have no spleen, are taking chemotherapy or steroid treatment, or if you have HIV/AIDS]

  • to be extended to include all children admitted to hospital in the past year for a respiratory infection such as pneumonia

  • children who have not previously had a flu jab are usually advised to receive a second dose 4 weeks after the first vaccine

  • NHS staff involved in direct patient care; social services employers and carers for the disabled and elderly

The government is also reviewing the evidence for giving 'flu vaccine in pregnancy and for giving the vaccine to children under 2 years.

DO NOT USE if allergic to eggs or chicken protein (because the vaccine is made in hen's eggs) or there is any known sensitivity or allergy to any ingredient.  This includes having had hives, swelling of the mouth and throat, difficulty breathing, hypotension or shock after eating eggs.

Vaccine Contents

Depending on the manufacturer - FluVirin, FluShield, FluZone, FluMist etc.

  • all are made using egg or chicken protein

  • neomycin, polymyxin, gentamycin - an antibiotic

  • all are made using thiomersal [mercury] - a preservative implicated in many severe neurological and immunological disorders

  • betapropiolactone - a disinfectant

  • nonoxynol - kills or stops growth of sexually transmitted diseases

  • octoxinol 9 - a vaginal spermicide

  • formaldehyde - a preservative

FLUMIST

FLUMIST is the new nasal-spray 'flu vaccine manufactured by Medimmune and Wyeth.  It contains weakened live 'flu viruses.  Flumist contains the same 'flu virus strains as the injectable vaccine, but they are weakened not killed.  Flumist contains aluminium, formaldehyde, and thiomersal [mercury].  The problem with the Flumist is that the recipient can become contageous for up to 21 days.  The most common side effects are cough, runny nose, nasal congestion, irritability and fever (rather like 'flu itself).  One of the most troubling concerns over Flumist is the potential for viruses to enter the brain across the cribriform plate (a paper thin bone) at the top of the nasal passages.  Intranasal injection of flu viruses may lead to encephalitis. [Ref: http://www.global-elite.org - "Beware the Risks of Flumist Vaccine".]

Side Effects

as reported by the manufacturers (Chiron, Wyeth, Aventis Pasteur):

  • headache, sweating, fatigue

  • seizures [convulsions]

  • fever [pyrexia]

  • malaise

  • purplish spots under the skin can be caused by a temporary reduction in the number of platelets [cells that help to clot the blood]

  • shivering

  • pain in muscles and joints - very similar to a dose of the 'flu

  • pain, swelling and redness and hardening of the skin at the injection site [also reported as a severe burning or stabbing pain along the course of the nerve, tingling sensations, pins and needles]

In some people, the vaccine can be a trigger for asthma attacks.

Hugh Fudenberg MD, one of the world's leading immunogeneticists, states: "if a person has 5 consecutive flu jabs, his chances of developing Alzheimer's Disease is 10 times higher than if he had 1, 2 or no jabs.  This is due to the mercury and aluminium content of the vaccine and the gradual toxic build up in the brain which causes cognitive dysfunction especially in the elderly."

Very rarely inflammation of brain, spinal cord or nerves, joint inflammation, kidney problems can occur.  Guillain-Barré Syndrome is the most serious reported reaction to the influenza vaccine, and can occur within 2 weeks of the flu jab.  This is a severe disorder of the nervous system.  One possible cause is that the influenza vaccine contains camphylobacter jejuna, a bacterium found in 40%-50% of chicken eggs.  It would seem that the adverse effects of the jab are often more intense than the suffering of the 'flu itself.

The following is taken from an article in the Informed Parent (issue 4 2005) entitled Flu jab may be fatal to some pensioners : "Winter flu jabs are being linked to an increased risk of life-threatening illness among the elderly.  Dozens of pensioners taking Warfarin or aspirin to ward off strokes have suffered internal bleeding after the flu jabs.  Since 2001 a total of 449 adverse reactions to flu jab have been reported.  20 people have died after the jab."
